The Journey Stage 2- LAX

I arrived in LAX this evening after a very good, but long, 5 hour flight from Toronto. The plane left a little late but arrived 15 minutes early so I can’t really complain.
I sat beside a very cool woman named Elizabeth Mason who is a fashion designer and her adorable service dog Sidney (after Sidney Cartier from A Tale of Two Cities, I’m told).  The dog didn’t bark and slept most of the way on his back, having little puppy dreams, flicking his ears and foot. Super cute.

Unfortunately I was in the middle seat, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. And I got to watch The Adjustment Bureau, with Matt Damon, and it was a solid movie.

Now I’m in LAX. So far as an airport (and I have been to many) it’s getting mixed reviews. The signage when I arrived told me quite clearly to go down the escalator and take a shuttle bus over to the other terminal. This process went very smoothly and that was nice.

However, my gate was the VERY LAST GATE that seemed miles away from the drop off point. When you are tired, hungry and have to pee, it’s a pain in the ass to be bringing your luggage past all these food and bathrooms trying to find the right gate.
Also, I was originally told that my gate was 107.. which doesn’t exist in my terminal. I checked the signs and realized that the woman actually meant gate 101, the aforementioned VERY LAST GATE.

Anyways, I’m here around midnight Ontario time and wanting to email my momma so she doesn’t freak out. BUT there is no free internet here in LAX. To me this seems quite unprogressive, however, their evil scheme worked as I shelled out $5 American to send a quick email to my parents and BFF (and Anna too! As she had emailed me and I had 4 minutes left out of the 14 I had purchased).

So I was not the biggest fan of LAX at this particular moment and decided that food may improve my mood. This is the moment when the airport totally redeemed itself! They sell Nutter Butter, which are peanut shaped peanut butter cookies and totally delicious. They also remind me of my childhood. I was ecstatic and purchased a package of 4 and a litre of water.
So now I am happily munching those down and writing this post on my Microsoft Word so that I don’t forget to do it.

We are not in Kansas anymore, but I’m not even half way there yet!!
Buckle up for 15 more hours of flight…
